Agartala, Jul 11 (UNI) Suspected NLFT ultras have kidnapped a person from remote Ratha Roajapara area under Longtharai valley police station in the state.
Police said here today that a group of seven National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants abducted one Bikalsa Tripura (25) yesterday, while he was collecting bamboo from a deep forest.
However, his companions managed to flee and reported the incident to police.
The SDPO (Longtharai Valley), accompanied by the police force, rushed to the spot and launched a massive manhunt but the victim was not traced, police stated.
Meanwhile, during a special operation, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans had recovered one home-made gun from an abandoned Jhum hut in a remote tribal location of Dhalai district last night.
In another raid, BSF seized 68 Kg ganja from Kalshimura along the Tripura-Bangladesh border in West Tripura yesterday and apprehended one Manilal Sarkar in this connection. He was handed over to the police, BSF officials sad.
Later, the state administration deployed additional security forces in insurgency-infested areas of Tripura following the announcement of the 17th anniversary celebration of All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) a militant outlift today, police spokesperson Nepal Das told newspersons.
According to a report, the ultras had launched a poster campaign in a few interior pockets of Tripura, asking the people to close government offices, schools and markets and take part in the celebration.
