Maoists blow up rail tracks, disrupt train services
Kolkata, Jul 11 (UNI) Maoist guerrillas today triggered a series of bomb blasts, blowing up railway tracks and disrupting train services under the Eastern Railway.
ER sources here said repeated bomb blasts on the tracks between Jhajha-Jasidih stations under Asansol divison disrupted train services as one metre of both up and down tracks were blown up between Simultala and Ghorparan stations at midnight last night.
On getting information, senior railway officials rushed to the spot to restore the line. After working on war footing, both up and down lines were restored this morning and train services were restored on the section, sources added.
Another bomb blast took place this morning between Narganjo and Ghorparan stations, disrupting train services again.
Sources maintained that extensive security check was being conducted to ensure safety and security of the passengers and railway tracks before resumption of train services on the section.
Train services, however, resumed at 1.30 PM on both up and down lines, sources stated.
Sources further informed that one more bomb was detonated on the railway track by the extremists between Abhaipur and Kajra stations under Malda divison of Eastern Railway late last night and train services got disrupted on Kiul-Jamalpur section for several hours.
The line was restored this morning, sources said.
