Panaji, Jul 11 (UNI) In tune with the wishes of the Centre, the Goa government has decided to make the Vasco-based Industrial Training Institute (ITI) a role model by strengthening its partnership with the local industry through ''public-private-partnership (PPP) route''.
Disclosing this to mediapersons after the Cabinet ratified the proposal here, chief minister Digambar Kamat said today the state would get Rs 2.5 crore as interest-free loan the Centre for developing the ITI.
It was run by the ''Society for Industrial and Technical Education (SITE), which would be upgraded under the Central scheme to make a model with the participation of the industry.
The Centre wanted to upgrade as many as 1,300 such ITIs in the country. Goa has about 13 ITIs.
