Jagadhri, Jul 11 (UNI) Two members of a family died while two others were hospitalised today after they signed a suicide pact ollowing persistant demands by creditors to return the money they had borrowed.
According to police sources, Mohan Lal who earned his living by making candles in the town decided to end his life alongwith his wife, son and daughter after receiving telephone calls this morning from financers from whom he had borrowed around Rs 4 to 5 lakh to invest in his business. In the afternoon the family drove down to a temple in Bilaspur village on the outskirts of the town where Mohan Lal and other family members consumed cold drinks that had been laced with some poisonous substance.
Police sources said that the poison in the cold drinks bottles had been put by Mohan Lal himself. After consuming the cold drinks, the four fell on the floor and immediately a group of villagers rushed them to the civil hospital here.
Aruna, wife of Mohan Lal and his four year old son died on the way to the hospital. Mohan Lal and his 12-year old daughter, Neha have been admitted to the hospital where their condition is stated to be serious.
The police has registered a case against Mohan Lal.
