HP announces ex gratia of Rs 3 lakh to Brig Mehta's kin
Shimla, Jul 11 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs three lakh to the family members of Brig R D Mehta and Rs one lakh to ITBP personnel Roop Singh, who were killed in a bomb blast at the Indian embassy in Kabul.
The Chief Minister also announced that the road originating at Longwood Chowk near RKMV upto Keleston (Housing Board Colony) would be named after Brig R D Mehta.
''Brig Mehta's sacrifice would not go waste since he had upheld the rich tradition of the Indian forces by laying down his life for the country,'' he said in his condolence message to the Army man's father S D Mehta.
Mr Dhumal assured the families of Brig Mehta and Roop Singh of Dhaban village of Mandi district of all possible help from the state government.
