Historical Society to celebrate centenary of power generatoin

Puducherry,July 11(UNI)The Historical Society of Pondicherry would organise year long celebrations to mark the centenary of the Power Generation Project in Puducherry.

Addressing a press conference here today, Chairman of the society Dr.V.Nallam said it was in July 1909, power generation was started in Puducherry by the Puducherry Municipality by availing a loan of Rs 60,000.

The society would organise celebrations throughout the year to mark the centenary, he added.

He also urged the administration to preserve and protect heritage buildings and to introduce a seperate act for the same.
