Haryana to give maximum power during paddy season
Chandigarh, July 11 (UNI) With a view to supplying maximum power to the consumers of the state during the ongoing paddy season, the Steering Committee for Power Planning has made some short term and long term arrangements for procuring power.
This was stated by Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power) Ashok Lavasa in a meeting here today.
Mr Lavasa specifically directed the officers to ensure that the electricity was supplied to tubewells and public water works strictly as per schedule and adequate power was supplied to all sectors.
The complaints regarding breakdown would also be attended on priority to avoid inconvenience to the consumers.
It was apprised by the officers that the distribution corporations purchasing power from the open market on short term basis to meet the growing demand of electricity.
The anticipated availability from the short term power purchase arrangements would be around 84 to 138 lakh units daily during the month of July, 126 lakh units per day during August and 163 lakh units daily during the month of September.
After these arrangements, the three phase uninterrupted electricity would be available to agriculture sector for at least six hours daily. The paddy season would be over by the end of September.
