Srinagar, Jul 11 (UNI) The Samajwadi Party (SP) in Jammu and Kashmir today urged Governor N N Vohra to fill all the 60,000 vacancies in different government departments and hold Assembly election on due date.
Addressing reporters here today the State president of the SP Sheikh Abdul Rehman said the coalition government had identified about 60,000 vacancies in different government departments. However, under the spell of vote politics, the coalition government chose to make these appointments only few months before the general elections which were due later this year, he alleged.
However, he said, because of new political developments in the State, the coalition government collapsed and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had to resign.
Mr Rehman said the process of filling these vacancies should be started immediately without waiting for the next government.
He also demanded that those working on contractual basis in different government departments should be made permanent.
We demand that free and fair elections be held on scheduled time, he said and demanded that some alleged political decisions taken by the coalition government for political mileage be quashed.
He hailed the central leadership of the SP for supporting the UPA government on nuclear issue.
Mr Rehman said support to the UPA was necessary to keep the communal forces at bay, who wanted to divide the country on religious and regional basis.
