New Delhi, Jul 11 (UNI) The Expenditure Finance Committee of the Delhi Government today cleared Rs 83 crore for development of an athletics-training venue for Commonwealth Games 2010 at Chhatrasal Stadium in North Delhi.
The Committee also gave its nod for a drainage project amounting to Rs 4.7 crore at a meeting presided over by Delhi Finance Minister Dr A K Walia.
Giving details, Dr Walia said that the organising committee of the CW Games 2010 had approved the Chhatrasal Sports Complex as Training Venue for athletics. The facilities will be later used for various tournaments at National, State and Zonal levels.
The project would be completed within 18 months in a covered area of 17646 sq. meters.
Dr Walia said that an amount of Rs 4.70 crore has been sanctioned for improvement of draining system along Guru Ravi Dass Marg in East Delhi, which would provide wider and better intake during rains to avoid stagnation of storm water.
The EFC also discussed a proposal seeking release of an additional amount of Rs 51 crore for a project related to construction of a Grade Separator at Raja Ram Kohli Marg and Shastri Nagar intersection in East Delhi.
The proposal has been kept in abeyance as the Minister asked for reasons to seek additional amount at this stage.
