CWC expresses determination to win trust vote
New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) The Congress Working Commiteee (CWC) today endorsed the UPA Government's decision to seek trust vote in the wake of Left parties withdrawing support to it, and expressed determination to win the same in the Lok Sabha.
''All CWC members and permament invitees present supported in one voice the stand taken by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the nuclear deal,'' General secretaries M Veerappa Moily and Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters after the nearly two hour meeting of the party's highest decision-making body.
As many as 32 members and permanent invitees, including General Secretary Rahul Gandhi participated in the meeting. Mr Gandhi took active participation in the discussions.
There were three abstentions-- Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, Jaffer Shrief and Dwivendra Dwivedi.
The meeting was briefed by Mrs Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee about the withdrawal of Left support and the nuclear deal.
''The CWC endorsed the Government decision to seek trust vote, and fully expressed its confidence and determination to win the confidence vote in the Lok Sabha,'' Mr Moily said.
