By Staff

Chennai, July 11 (UNI) Forty-seven schools will vie for honours in the Chennai leg of the second Boost Cricket Cup Under-16 inter-school tournament to be held here from tomorrow.

Talking to reporters last night TNCA Secretary K S Viswanathan and Mr Sundaresan of Procam International, promoter of the tournament, said the intra-city challenge would have 47 teams this year as against 56 last year.

The tournament was being held in eight centres, including Chennai.

After the intra-city challenge in eight cities, the winners from eight centres would feature in the inter-city challenge, from which 20 players would be picked for a seven-day coaching camp to be conducted by prominent ex-cricketers.

Five of the players would be declared as ''Ratnas'' and awarded cash scholarships.

Mr Viswanathan said as the Indian Cricket Board has proposed to conduct an Under-16 inter-schools tournament from this year to unearth more talent, the Boost Cup event would held in the state to tap talented players.
