Bangalore, July 10(UNI) The Opposition Congress in Karnataka suffered yet another jolt when Film Actor-turned-Politician Jaggesh resigned from the Legislative Assembly and joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.
Elected to the Legislative Assembly from Thuruvekere in the recent elections,Mr Jaggesh was the third Congress MLA to resign and join the BJP.
Mr Jaggesh earlier submitted his resignation to Speaker Jagadish Shettar who accepted it.
With Jaggesh's resignation, the strength of the Congress in the 225-member Karnataka Assembly was reduced to 77. The JD(S) has 26 members, BJP 110, Independents six and nominated one.
Defending his decision, Mr Jaggesh said he was fed up with the party's (Congress) poor leadership and lack of vision.
He also expressed his desire to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from Tumkur District.
So far four legislators, two each from JD(S) and Congress, have joined BJP after resigning from the Assembly.
