New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz today said the Indo-US nuclear deal was good for the country and the Muslim community and asked the political parties not to view it from narrow sectarian angle.
Welcoming the decision of the Samajwadi Party to support the UPA on the issue of Indo-US nuclear deal in Parliament, Prof Soz who also is the president of Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee, said that the action reflected the commitment to national interest by the party headed by former uttar pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Prof Soz said an attempt was made by ''interested elements'' in the minds of the Muslims about the nuclear deal. It is not just advantageous for India but will also enhance the national prestige.
When India's interest is served, it is also in the interest of Muslims of the country," he said, noting that religious organisations like Darul Uloom, Deoband and Jamait-e-Ulema-e-Hind had welcomed the nuclear deal.
