Hyderabad, Jul 10 (UNI) The stand-off between the disbanded Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and the ad-hoc committee was finally resolved today with the former agreeing to hand over the original Junior Asia Cup trophy.
''We have got a message. We are getting the old trophy today,'' ad-hoc committee convenor Mohd Aslam Khan said.
The IHF, led by KPS Gill, had refused to hand over the trophy yesterday. Aslam Khan was however, refused to dwell on the incident.
''As far as I am concerned, there was nothing. We realised it when the tournament director from the Asian Hockey Federation told us that the trophy is lying with IHF. By that time, I was in Hyderabad. So I sent a message, we got a call back saying that the trophy is here, send someone to pick it up,'' he said.
Asked about reports that the ad-hoc committee was getting a new trophy, Aslam Khan said, ''The organisers in Hyderabad told me that for every tournament there will be a new trophy.'' The Junior Asia Cup starts tomorrow at Gachibowli Stadium here with hosts India locking horns with Japan in the opening match.
