Nagpur, Jul 10 (UNI) The Bangalore-based Deccan Cargo Private Limited will set up a state-of-the-art international cargo hub at the airport here.
Deccan Cargo chief Capt Gopinath, pioneer of low-cost air travel in India, and Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd (MADC) Vice Chairman-cum-Managing Director R C Sinha formally signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the same here today.
Vilasrao Deshmukh, who is also the Chairman of MADC, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel and Union Minister of State for Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar were also present.
Capt Gopinath later told reporters that the proposed cargo hub would be spread over 48 acres of land, and would be operated with a fleet of 132 aircraft.
The hub would connect major economies of Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe via India, he said.
