7/11 blast victims being harassed: Somaiya
Mumbai, July 10 (UNI) Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya has demanded immediate withdrawal of all appeals against 7/11 Mumbai serial blasts victims who have received compensation.
Mr Somaiya, while addressing a press conference yesterday, also demanded that the government should apologise to these victims.
The Railways have moved the High Court stating that the interest decreed by the special bench of the Railway Claims Tribunal is unjustified, Mr Somaiya said.
He said that even 24 months after the blasts, financial compensation has not been paid to all the victims. The Maharashtra government took 23 months to disburse the compensation to 1014 victims, Mr Somaiya said. The Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Railways and the Maharashtra government and sought an explanation for the delay in disbursement of the compensation, Mr Somaiya said.
