25 lakh more pensioners by October One : CM
Hyderabad, July 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the number of people drawing Social Security Pensions would go up to nearly 73 lakh from October 1, 2008 against the present 48 lakh, covering physically challenged, widows, weavers and also the people who were living below the poverty line.
Reviewing the implementation of the pension scheme, the prevailing agricultural situation and other issues with officials at his camp office here he directed officials that pension money should reach every beneficiary and one government functionary should be deputed to every habitation to deliver cash to pensioners.
From October one, 25 lakh more people will get pensions, he added.
He said Vizianagaram, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Ananthapur and Adilabad districts excelled in pension payments whereas Prakasam, Kurnool, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda were not up to the mark.
