Two CRPF jawans killed in attack by Dimasa militants
Guwahati, Jul 9 (UNI) At least two CRPF jawans were killed and four others injured when Dimasa militants opened fire on the security personnel near Maibong in North Cachar Hills district today.
Police said the Jewel group of Dimasa militants, which had announced a unilateral ceasefire in the district today, opened fire at a CRPF patrol at Maibong at around 0730 hours, killing two CRPF jawans and injuring four others.
The injured jawans have been admitted to the Maibong Civil Hospital.
In a separate incident, a hardcore ULFA militant, belonging to the 27th battalion, was shot dead on the outskirts of Guwahati city in the early hours.
Police said the encounter occurred at Aporikhola in Sonapur area.
One grenade and two bombs were recovered from the slain militant's possession.
