K'taka govt to set up Sanskrit Directorate
Mysore, July 9 (UNI) Karnataka Primary Education Minister Vishveswara Hegde Kegari today said the state government was planning to set up a separate directorate for Sanskrit education in the state.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said all the Sanskrit institutions in the state would come under the directorate after the Directorate was formed.
The government was also considering a proposal to establish a separate Sanskrit University in the state, he said.
Referring to alleged 'safronisation' of history text books as alleged in some quarters, the minister clarified that he had stated that some mistakes in the history books would be 'corrected' and not 'rewritten'. ''The statement was misquoted and wrongly reported,'' he added.
