Heavy overnight rain hits Delhi but sultry weather persists
New Delhi, Jul 9 (UNI) After light rains over the weekend despite a heavily clouded skyline, heavy rains lashed Delhi today even as high humidity levels maintained sultry weather conditions.
The heavy showers, which followed a densely clouded skyline since last night, brought down the minimum temperature, from 26.3 Degree Celsius yesterday, to 25 Degree C, three degrees below normal.
A total of 19.9 mm rainfall was recorded in the safdarjung area till 0830 hours while Palam recieved 18.5 mm rainfall during this period.
A drop in minimum temperature notwithstanding, the showers brought in their wake sultry weather caused by a sharp rise in humidity levels in the city.
The appearance of the Sun in the sky, coupled with high humidity levels of 95 per cent, led to acute perspiratory conditions in the city.
More rainy spells could be in the offing for Delhiites with weathermen forecasting some rain or thundershowers in the city in the next few days.
The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of rain or thundershowers in a few areas.
