Govt should chalk out projects to utilize solar energy: Justice Iyer
Kochi, Jul 9 (UNI) Throwing his weight behind alternative sources of energy, former Supreme Court Judge Justice V R Krishna Iyer today urged the Kerala Government to chalk out projects to utilise solar energy and to generate electricity from wind and wave to tide over the energy crisis in the state.
In a statement here, Mr Justice Iyer said ''both the Government and the Opposition in the state should be blamed for not utilizing the abundant solar energy and not encouraging power generation from wind and wave.'' The nuclear energy was dangerous and costly, and the nuclear waste would be harmful to the mankind, he added.
Stressing the importance of conservation of energy, the renowned judge said the government should take initiatives to control the use of electricity in the state.
