Govt exempts custom duties on raw cotton
New Delhi, Jul 9 (UNI) The government today said it has fully scrapped import duty on raw cotton with effect from yesterday.
''The import duty on raw cotton has been scrapped with effect from July 8, 2008,'' an official statement said here today.
Last week, an industry body had urged the government to curb cotton exports and allow duty-free imports to tide over a shortage.
