Newport, US, Jul 9 (UNI) Indian Davis Cupper Prakash Amritraj pipped Joseph Sirianni of Australia to enter the second round of the 385,000 dollar Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships here.
Amritraj put up a spirited fight after losing the first set in the tie-break and defeated the Australian 6-7(3) 6-4 6-4.
The Indian has also entered the second round of the doubles event.
Amritraj and his partner Giles Muller of Luxembourg outplaced the second seeded American pair of Scott Lipsky and David Martin 7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-7 in the opening round.
Meanwhile, another Indian in the fray, Rohan Bopanna also entered the second round alongwith his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-haq-Qureshi.
The fourth seeded pair of the Indian and Pakistani defeated Americans Tripp Phillips and Jim Thomas 4-6 6-3 10-2 in their first round match.
