Supplementary budget presented in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, July 8 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh government today presented an approximately Rs 1,387 crore first supplementary budget for the 2008-09 fiscal in the Assembly.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, who holds the Finance portfolio, presented the budget that would be discussed tomorrow.
The budget enshrines a provision of Rs 4.73 cr for the security detail of the Governor and Chief Minister, Rs 8.70 cr for the Chief Minister's Foodgrain Scheme, Rs 2 cr for a medical university, Rs 1.80 cr for opening varsities in Sarguja and Bastar besides budgetary demands for the police and other departments.
A demand of Rs 12.22 cr was made for 63 dwelling units at Dantewada, Kanker, Narayanpur and Bijapur district headquarters. All four districts are naxalism-affected.
Besides, Rs 50 lakh were demanded for setting up the Chhattisgarh Sports Academy, Rs 1 cr for a Regional Science City and Rs 3.5 cr for developing the birthplaces of great personages.
