Jammu, Jul 8 (UNI) Cautioning intensified agitation ahead, the Baba Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti today gave a one-week 'ultimatum' to the Jammu and Kashmir Governor to hand over the land back to the Shrine Board.
They, however, temporarily suspended the Jammu bandh call.
''The agitation will continue till our demands be fulfilled.
We have given seven days time to Mr N N Vohra to return back the 800 kanals of land to the Shrine Board,'' Leela Karan, president Baba Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti said at a press conference here.
Mr karan said members of all religious and political organisations would stage a dharna outside the Raj Bhawan tomorrow morning, demanding the land back to the Shrine Board and removal of the Governor , who added fuel to the Amarnath row.
''The agitation has been suspended on a temporary basis, keeping in mind the position of different sections of the society, so that they do not suffer and jointly come forward in support of the ongoing agitation,'' Mr Karan said.
The demonstration may take an ugly turn if Mr Vohra does not cancel the revoked order after one-week, he warned.
''Dismissal of Azad-led Government was one of our demands but handing over land back to the Shrine Board and removal of the Governor are main targets, which are yet to be achieved,'' the president Sangharsh Samiti asserted.
