KPS Gill's petition to be heard tomorrow in Delhi HC

By Staff

Patiala, Jul 8 (UNI) The petition filed by former President of Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), K P S Gill, who was unceremoniously removed from the coveted post by the country's apex sports body, Indian Olympic Association (IOA), will come up for hearing tomorrow in Delhi High Court.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) had intervened to resurrect Indian hockey, asking the IOA to take immediate action to purge the IHF management after its secretary, Jyotikumaran ,was allegedly charged of taking a bribe to accommodate a player in the national team.

As a follow-up, the IOA sacked Gill and appointed an Ad Hoc Committee, headed by former Union Minister and hockey superstar, Aslam Sher Khan, to look after the affairs of Indian hockey transiently.

Talking to UNI on phone from New Delhi, Aslam Sher Khan, when asked how he planned to uplift Indian hockey which is in a shambles, said tomorrow's decision by Delhi High Court on Gill's petition will be crucial for the Ad Hoc Committee to plan out the development of hockey in the country.
