Cong begins selection of candidates for Assy polls in Delhi
New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Jai Prakash Agarwal, MP, today said the Congress had begun the process of finding suitable candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the Capital.
Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Agarwal said a team of two observers had been appointed in each district. The team included one DPCC office-bearer, who is in-charge of the district and one senior Congress leader, who will sit in the District Congress Committee office, along with the District President, from tomorrow to start the process of finding the right candidate for each Assembly constituency.
The DPCC president said a panel of three names would be proposed in each Assembly constituency by the district observers after interacting with MLAs, Municipal Councillors, those who had contested the Assembly and MCD elections, former MLAs and Municipal Councillors, AICC members and DPCC office-bearers living in the concerned Assembly constituency, heads of the party's frontal organisations, workers and voters of the constituency.
The purpose was to take every possible opinion before making a final decision on the panel of three names of probable candidates, he said.
