London, July 8 : Back to Black singer Amy Winehouse has been cited as the most likely candidate to become the next Dr Who.
Winehouse was found to be appropriate for the role by the show's creator.
The programme which depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as "the Doctor".
Producer Russell T Davies is already looking for a replacement for lead star David Tennant.
A number of actors have been considered for the role, among them actors James Nesbitt, Robert Carlyle and Jason Statham.
But Davies has it on his mind that the next Doctor should be a woman, and that Winehouse would be great for the part.
"Amy Winehouse would be a great Doctor," he added.
Other females in the frame to take over the Tardis include Dame Judi Dench and former Clocking Off star Lesley Sharp.
