New Delhi, Jul 8 (UNI) She has, for the last over a decade, revolutionised the television scene in the country with her unique brand of family soaps, which have earned her the befitting title of the ''Queen of Family Soaps'' on the Indian satellite scene.

After ruling the TRP ratings over the years with her popular shows like 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki', 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay' Ekta Kapoor yesterday embarked into world of the mythological sagas with 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabhaarat Ki', her take on the Grand epic Mahabharat'.

Nearly two decades after B R Chopra's 'Mahabharat' brought a revolution of sorts on the television scene in India with its ''Larger-than-life'' depiction of the epic saga that had the entire country hooked on to the story of the feud between the 'Kauravas' and the 'Pandavas', 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki', produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, seeks to revisit the epic albeit in a more contemporary setting.

'Kahani Hamaaray Mahabhaarat Ki', which began airing on the 9X General entertainment channel from last night, comes with the promise of contemporising the age-old tale and making the story of the feud between the 'Kauravas' and the 'Pandavas' more visually appealing through a lavish use of special effects and computer graphics.

Being aired at 2100 hrs from Mondays to Thursdays, 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki' will feature almost the entire who's who of Indian television including Ronit Roy, Sakshi Tanwar, Anita Hassanandani,Rakshanda Khan, Aryan Vaid, Chetan Hansraj, Makrand Deshpande, Kiran Karmarkar, Kali Prasad and many others.

Ronit Roy, who plays the role of Bhishm in Ekta's 'Mahabharat' said, ''The show has been made with the highest production values and a grandeur never seen before.'' Sources at the 9X reveal that 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki' has been shot on spectacular sets, and in the best locations, including Ladakh, Jaipur, and has costumes designed by Manish Malhotra.

A unique feature of 'Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabhaarat ki' is that it is being shot on High Definition format for the first time, and features the best technical team and a powerful, well researched script with costumes by Manish Malhotra that do not fall into a mytho stereotype but are a fresh yet believable interpretation.

''Created with the latest techniques in film production and special effects, 9X's Mahabharat has been created for today's generation and will feel more real than ever before, with a strongly contemporary and fresh appeal while retaining the power, grandeur and values of the great epic,'' channel sources said.
