New Delhi, Jul 7 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, chairman of the UPA-Left panel on the Indo-US nuclear deal, today said the panel could meet on July 10 at 1600 hrs.

Mr Mukherjee suggested the date in a communication to the Left which had set the July 7 deadline for the government to make it clear whether it was going ahead with the finalisation of the India-specific safeguards agreement with the IAEA.

Mr Mukherjee's letter was delivered this afternoon at the offices of the four Left parties -- CPI(M), CPI, Forward Bloc and RSP, AICC media department chairman M Veerappa Moily told reporters.

CPI National Secretary D Raja confirmed the receipt of the letter.

He told UNI, ''The government is proposing one more meeting of the UPA-Left panel on the deal, that is all.'' In a joint letter to Mr Mukherjee here on Friday, the Left had sought ''to know definitely whether the government is proceeding to seek the approval of the Safeguards Agreement by the Board of Governors of the IAEA.'' They had set a three-day deadline for the reply.

The July 10 meeting is expected to be the last on the subject. At the last meeting, the panel had announced that it had completed the discussions and its findings would be finalised at the next meeting.
