Imphal, Jul 7 (UNI) Two suspected militants were shot dead by police and troops in different areas of the state capital.
Police said here today that a suspected militant was shot dead by Imphal East police commandos last night.
In another incident a suspected militant was shot dead yesterday at Thoubal district, police said.
Meanwhile, proscribed militant outfits Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and United National Liberation Front (UNLF) threatened that they would attack all the villagers of Heirok, Thoubal district if they did not retract their decision to take arms from the state government to fight militants.
''No one will be allowed to venture out of Heirok,'' the two outfits warned.
After three people were killed on March 24 at Heirok and another man at Chajing, Imphal West on April 23, the state government had decided to arm civilians to protect themselves from militants by recruiting youths.
