Three held for involving in two wheeler theft
Hyderabad, Jul 7 (UNI) In a major breakthrough in the investigation of vehicle theft cases here, the city police today apprehended a three-member family, involved in lifting of parked two wheelers and seized 108 two wheelers worth Rs 45 lakh from their possession.
Addressing the press here, City Police Commissioner B Prasad Rao said the Nallakunta police had arrested N Madhusudhan Reddy, his wife Pushpalatha and son Suraj Reddy for committing vehicle thefts with fake keys from public places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad since the last two years.
When interrogated, the offender Madhusudhan Reddy confessed that unable to clear his debts he took to committing two wheeler theft to earn easy money.
He prepared fake RC books in the name of his wife as owners of the stolen vehicles by forging signatures of concerned RTA authorities and fake rubber stamps.
Further, Reddy used to send his wife and son to pawn broker shops where they mortgaged the vehicles and RC books and took money. Some of the vehicles were also sold to mechanics and auto consultants.
The police official said Reddy, who started his career as an RTA agent in Karim Nagar, used to help in disposal of stolen vehicles by furnishing false documents. He was also arrested by Karim Nagar police in 2002.
