Thangabalu thanks party high command

Chennai, Jul 7 (UNI) Newly-appointed Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K V Thangabalu today said he would take into confidence all senior leaders of the party while discharging his duties.

Talking to newspersons, he thanked the party high command for reposing faith by appointing him as President of the party in the state.

''There is no factionalism in the party and I am common to all. I am not new to the TNCC and I will discharge my duties to the best of my ability and to the fullest satisfaction of party high command,'' he said.

Representing Salem Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Thangabalu has been appointed as TNCC Chief for the second time. He was first appointed as TNCC President in 1997 and held the post for a year.

He was state Youth Congress President during 1981-86 and had served as Rajya Sabha member from 1984-90. He was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1991 and served as Union Minister for State in the Welfare Ministry during 1993-96.
