Minister directs extensive checking drive against power theft
Varanasi, July 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Energy minister Ramveer Upadhyay today gave instructions to power department officials for launching an extensive checking drive against increasing power theft.
Reviewing power situation with the officials of 21 districts of Eastern UP, including Varanasi, Mr Upadhyay advised officials to launch an extensive drive against power theft with the assistance of district administration, official sources stated.
He also said the drive should not be limited on papers, but should implied in reality.
Expressing dis-satisfaction on the poor realisation of dues, the minister warned of stringent action, including transfers, against the lax officials.
Mr Upadhyay also asked the officials to pay special attention on line loss and prepare a list of those places, where it occurs.
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporaton Limited (UPPCL) chairman Pradeep Shukla and Managing Director Awnish Awasthy were also present in the review meeting.
