Chandigarh, Jul 7 (UNI) Haryana Power Utilities has directed all its Superintending Engineers to ensure that while doing electricity work during rainy season, the field employees should follow all the safety codes and norms so that any unwanted incident could be averted.
The spokesman of the Nigam said that the cases of electricity accidents likely to increase in rainy season which could be averted by adopting safety precautions. He informed that it could be harmful to switch on the electricity equipments by wet hands.
While doing any type of electricity work, the dry rubber or plastic chappals should be used.
Use of rubber gloves, security belt, shoes, insulated place and wooden stool in the rainy season would also be helpful in reducing the electricity accidents.
He said that proper earthing of wires could also reduce the risk of accidents. Neglecting of security code for initiating supply of electricity in transformer or sub-station could also be risky.
The necessary guidelines regarding different precautionary measures had been issued to the contractors dealing with electricity work so that such accidents could be averted, he added.
