Puducherry, Jul 7: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) MLAs led by Leader of the Opposition A M H Nazeem today called on Chief Minister N Rangasamy at the Commercial Taxes Office, where he was attending a meeting, along with representatives of private medical and engineering colleges to finalise the qovernment quota in the institutions.
The MLAs urged Mr Rangasamy to take steps to obtain 65 per cent seats in medical and engineering colleges as done by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
They also wanted the government to provide regional reservation for Karaiakal, Mahe and Yanam Regions in engineering colleges here.
Presently, regional reservation was available only for medical colelges here.
Meanwhile, private engineering colleges had reportedly agreed to provide 50 per cent seats to the government while discussions with medical colleges were on.
