New Delhi, Jul 7 (UNI) The BJP today wondered whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were really on talking terms as both preferred writing over any other mode of communication to respond to each other on important issues.
''Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi may be living in the same city and claiming to have been enjoying the best of cordial terms, attending the same function and sharing the platform. But, it is strange that Ms Gandhi prefer to write to the Prime Minister on important matters rather than talking to him on phone or otherwise,'' said the BJP in its four-year report on the performance of Congress-led UPA government.
Entitled 'Four years of misery', the report observed that the people got startled when they read reports of Ms Gandhi writing to Dr Singh on important issues like FDI, retail trade and TFA.
''The Prime Minister is the head of the government and Ms Gandhi is the Congress supremo, it is natural that both should keep in touch with each other on important policy matters. But their occassional letters to each other have left the people thinking if the two are on speaking terms,'' the report said.
''The UPA chairperson is the supreme leader of the Congress under whom the Prime Minister is functioning as a Member of the Congress and both of them fail to inspire,'' the BJP report claimed.
A booklet on the four-year performance of the UPA government was released by BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
