APCC to launch membership drive on July 14

Hyderabad, Jul 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President D Srinivas today said the membership enrolment drive would be launched at party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan on July 14.

Addressing a press conference here, Srinivas said he, along with Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, would take their membership in the presence of AICC General Secretary and incharge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs M Veerappa Moily.

The District Congress Committee Presidents' meeting would be held on the same day and the membership drive books would be handed over to them to steer it in all the districts from July 21. Local leaders, including MLAs, MLCs and Members of Parliament, would take part in the membership drive in all the districts. The drive would commence in all the mandals from July 28, he added.

The target for the membership was 50 lakh as against 34.43 lakh last time, he said adding the membership drive was expected to be completed by the end of September this year.

He appealed the party rank and file and voters to ensure that the draft electoral lists, to be announced by the government, included their names.
