Bhopal, July 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh's Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unit has launched 'Bhrashtachar Hatao, Shiksha Bachao' agitation from today to protest ''rampant corruption'' in universities of the state and the Chancellor's inaction against the ''corrupt and fraud'' vice-chancellors.

State ABVP secretary Hitesh Shukla told newspersons here today that the agitation would end on July 31 with the demonstration and gherao of Raj Bhawan.

Alleging that the Chancellor was supporting the vice-chancellors, against whom charges of corruption, criminal cases and holding of false diploma were pending, he said the Chancellor and the government remained mute spectators.

Thousands of ABVP activists would surge towards the Raj Bhawan on July 31 and gherao it to press their demands.

Mr Shukla said the ABVP would also give a strike call on July 24 in all educational institutions in the state. However, a signature campaign, submitting of memorandum to principals, district magistrates and chancellors and vice-chancellors would be completed before the strike by July 20.

He said state Education Minister Anup Mishra had announced to constitute the Higher Education Commission but he has failed to fulfil his promise till date. He asked clarification from the Chancellor for delay in setting up of the Sanskrit University.

Mr Shukla demanded to open medical, agriculture, music universities in the state and recruitment of efficient educationists and intellectuals in all the vacant posts in the educational institutions in the state.

He also demanded that elections of student unions be held under the Model Code of Conduct.
