PAC urges Centre on CFGR monitoring Chairman
Kohima, Jul 06 (UNI) The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) has urged the Centre to immediately appoint a full-time Chairman for the implementation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGR) in the state with his office at Kohima or Dimapur.
The Chairman of PAC and Co-Convenor of DAN alliance Dr T M Lotha, in a release issued here today, said after the ceasefire between the Centre and both the factions of NSCN, two separate monitoring agencies as the Cease Fire Monitoring Group with NSCN-IM and the Cease Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) with NSCN (K) were established under the common Chairman appointed by the Centre.
He lamented that after removing former Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) R V Kulkarni, the Centre appointed a regular Chairman for CFMG and CFSB to supervise, monitor and implement the CFGR, which was mutually agreed upon by the concerned parties.
Without naming Special Secretary (Internal Security) M L Kumawat, who was appointed as the new Chairman of CFMG and CFSB by the Centre from June 1, Dr Lotha said the present Chairman was only on a temporary basis and alleged that the Centre was insincere towards the Naga people and solving the Naga political problem.
He also noted that despite having cease-fire monitoring mechanisms, there had been reports of violation of ground rules by the factions, which should be monitored by the Chairman, whose role is extremely vital in such a crucial stage and a full time Chairman is an urgent requirement to be stationed in Nagaland.
