Light rain lash HP

Shimla, Jul 6 (UNI) Light showers lashed several mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh during the day following which the temperatures plummeted by a few degrees.

Shimla town experienced 29 mm rain during the day followed by 10 mm at the famous tourist resort of Dharamshala in Kangra district, eight mm at Sundernagar and three mm each at Solan and Bhuntar towns.

Almost all mid and lower hills of the state received light showers during the day after experiencing dry weather for the past few days. The minimum temperature in the state capital stood at 17.4, while the maximum temperature fell by over a degree to stand at 21.4 degrees as compared to 22.8 degree Celsius recorded yesterday. Sundernagar recorded a night temperature of 21.3, Bhuntar 22.2, Kalpa 12.7, Dharamshala 18, Mandi 23.2, Una 21.5 and Solan 21.2 degree Celsius.

The met office said the day temperature at Sundernagar fell by over two degrees to 27.1 as compared to 29.6 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, while Bhuntar recorded 28.4, Kalpa 21.2, Dharamshala 26.6, Una 33 and Solan 26.8 degree Celsius.

Shimla town and its surrounding areas were lashed by rains during the second half of the day following overcast conditions since this morning.Thick clouds are hovering over the sky with the possibility of more rain during the evening and night.

The met office has forecast rain and thundershowers at a few places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
