Katihar, Jul 6 (UNI) The NCP today asserted that Indo-US nuclear deal was in the interest of the energy requirement of the country and the UPA government was even risking its survival for the sake of the agreement.
NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar told mediapersons here that his party always kept national interest above politics.
'' We are not bothered with the survival of the UPA government when the need of the hour is to safeguard the country's interest,'' he said.
''If the present trend continues, the gap between demand and supply of the power will increase in future, making it impossible to meet the requirement by sticking to only conventional ways of generation of power--thermal and hydro,'' Mr Anwar said adding,'' if we failed to take interest of the nation now, the industrial progress would be greatly hampered in the coming days.'' The NCP ledaer said the UPA government will try to seek the support of all secular parties, including the Left, for pushing through the Indo-US nuclear deal as it was in the national interest.
