Hike in power tariff inevitbale in Kerala: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, July 6(UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today hinted that a hike in power tariff was inevitable as the power situation in the state was very severe due to the failure of monsoon.
Talking to reporters here, he said the government had no other alternative than revising the power tariff.
However, the government had not yet decided on imposing power cut in the state, he added.
Mr Balan said the government would conduct a comprehensive study to solve the power crisis in the state and if the present situation continued, the Board would have an additional burden of Rs 3,500 crore and the government would have no other alternative than to increase power tariffs.
The government was trying to find a solution without effecting the public, he added.
