Muktsar, Jul 6 (UNI) The Punjab Police today registered a dowry case against an IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre following a complaint by his enstranged wife.
Confirming the registration of the case, police sources here said the case was registered against SDM of Bidar, Ravneet Singh Gill, his father Prithpal Singh, mother Jaswant Kaur and his brother Rivepreet Singh. The family hails from Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
The case was registered on the complaint of Dr Preetinder Kaur, the wife of the IAS officer, and her father. In the complaint she has stated that after her marriage in March last year she was continously harassed by her husband and in-laws who made a demand for Rs 60 lakh besides a Mercedes car.
Acting on the complaint, a case under sections 468-A, 406, 354/34 of the IPC was today registered at Muktsar city police station. Dr Kaur is working at the Primary Health Centre here.
