Tiruchirapalli, July 6 (UNI) The Bharathidasan University here has decided to reduce the fee for instant examination from Rs 900 to Rs 500, according to University Vice Chancellor M Ponnavaikko.
Announcing this at the university's senate meeting, held here yesterday, he said hitherto, the instant examination was meant only for those who had failed in a single subject in the final semester.
Henceforth, the students, who failed in one subject in any other semester, could also apply, he added.
Dr Ponnavaikko said a three-member committee was formed to look into the requirements of the office of the Controller of Examinations. It would study the need for more Deputy and Assistant Controllers and additional sections to ensure proper functioning of its examination wing, he added.
The proposed District Counselling and Career Development Cell would be established in phases in eight districts under the university's jurisdiction. One such facility would come up by this year end in one of the districts with funds received from the UGC and the Tamil Nadu Government.
