9-member Indian team to leave today for World Junior Athletics

New Delhi, Jul 6 (UNI) A nine-member Indian athletics team with legendary runner PT Usha as coach will take part in the IAAF World Junior Athletics Championships at Bydgoszcz, Poland that begins from July 8 to 13.

In the women's section, middle distance runner M R Poovamma from Karnataka is being considered as the best hope for India, while high jumper Lakshmanan Yogiraj would be a force to reckon with in the six-day long event.

The Indian team will leave for Poland today.

The Team: Men: Jithin Paul (400m Hurdles); Shejil Verghese (400m Hurdles); Lakshmanan Yogiraj (High Jump); Jasdeep Singh Dhillon (Shot Put).

Women: M R Poovamma (400m; 4x400m); Simon Rajam Bindhu (800m; 4x400m); Chinchu Jose (4x400m); Jauna Murmu (4x400m), Tintu Luka (800m; 4x400m).

Coach: P T Usha; Manager: Suresh Babu.
