Puri, Jul 5 (UNI) The police were in a fix as the three of six devotees, who died in a sampede in Puri on the carfesival day stampede were yet to be identified.
Police said so far three bodies were identified and handed over to their relatives, who cremated them at Swargadwar.
The bodies so far identified were Pravasini Parija (40) of Delta colony, Bhubaneswar, her elder sister Bonidini Pattnaik (51) of Baunsiapara, Nayagarh and Pravakar Jena (38) of Keonjhar.
The rest three bodies were lying in the hospital premises awaiting identification. "If nobody turns up we would consign the bodies into flame at the Swargadwar after keeping their photographs" police said.
Puri district Chief District Medical Officer Trilocahan Baral said 17 persons were undergoing treatment in the hospital. Four were referred to SCB Medical, Cuttack after their condition worsened.
Meanwhile, the Sri Jagannath temple administration was making all preparation to claim of Rs 2 lakh against each of the six people who died in the stampede from its insurer the Oriental Insurance company.
The devotees were insured against any accidental death in Badadanda-from Lions gate of the main temple to Gundicha temple for a period of fifteen days beginning from Nabayouvan darshan day to Niladri Bije a period of fifteen days.
