Sufficient stock of essentials available in Kashmir valley
Srinagar, Jul 5 (UNI) Rejecting all apprehensions about the shortage of stocks in the valley following violence and curfew in Jammu, the authorities said sufficient stock of essentials were available in Kashmir.
Official sources said today a high level meeting of officers convened by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mehboob Iqbal here reviewed the stock and supply situation of essential commodities and availability of power supply, drinking water besides irrigation facility for the paddy land in the valley.
It was informed that sufficient stocks of food grains including 2.23 lakh quintals of rice, 5236 quintals of atta and 6200 quintals of sugar were available in all the valley districts to cater to the needs of consumers for more than one month.
It was given out that 70,000 filled cooking gas cylinders were in stock in the valley which could suffice for ten days.
Reviewing the stock situation at Baltal and Pahalgam for Amarnath pilgrims, it was apprised that 56,000 litres of kerosene oil had been dispatched to these base camps while stock situation of other essentials was satisfactory.
The Divisional Commissioner enjoined upon the offices to ensure better power supply to the consumers during the summer season.
