Srinagar, Jul 5 (UNI) Expressing satisfaction over the support being extended by the general public to security forces in their fight against militancy, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir police Kuldeep Khoda announced one rank promotion of nine police officials, who took part in the Pulwama encounter.
Mr Khoda appreciated the role of public with regard to giving support to the State Police and other security forces in bringing normalcy and peace in the state.
He maintained that public from all walks of life and from every corner of the state have always given them support for achieving better results.
Appreciating the role of the State Police in combating militancy and bringing normal situation in state, he said without people's support normalcy was impossible. He assured that the State Police will always remain in fore front for the betterment of people, who suffered a lot during the militancy, so that they could prosper and students carry on with their studies in a peaceful atmosphere.
Mr Khoda has announced the promotion of nine police personnel of the District Police Lines Pulwama and Anantnag, who took part in various anti-militancy operations during the past one week.
About the overall situation in the state, Mr Khoda said it was under control and Amarnath Yatra was going smoothly.
He said even during the abnormal situation in the valley, yatris performed the yatra smoothly and without any interruption, as the State Police, with help of other security agencies, have provided security cover from Lakhanpur to the Holy Cave.
He said situation in Jammu was also improving and wherever the situation improved, relaxation in curfew was given.
