Many countries interested in Brahmos: Pillai
Coimbatore, Jul 5 (UNI) Defence Research and Development Organisation Chief Controller (R&D) and Brahmos Aerospace CEO and MD, A Sivathanu Pillai today said the success of supersonic cruise missile has led to many countries envincing keen interest in the armament.
Speaking to the press, Dr Pillai said there were many enquries from countries all over the world regarding Brahmos, an Indo-Russian Joint Venture.
So far, India had either produced or imported its defence requirements. But now, it was poised for exports with Brahmos finding so many takers.
The Union Government is in the process of finalising the list of countries to which the missile can be exported.
While India had already developed Brahmos for the Army and the Navy, trials were on for the Air Force version.
Brahmos had already been fitted in warships and submarines and three more warships, being imported from Russia, would also carry the supersonic missiles, he added.
